Operator-Friendly Handheld
Polishing/Filing Machine

Industry Roundup: New Products & Services

The low-vibrating Di-Pro™ polishing/filing machine is to be released this spring by Diprofil AB. The Di-Pro has been designed as a high-end handheld machine, ideally suited for fine mechanical handwork and finishing operations, that emphasizes the wellbeing of the operator.

As employers and employees struggle to improve the working environment by reducing the risks of hand-arm vibration (HAV), manufacturers of tools help by providing alternatives. Use of low-vibrating, efficient tools is the most important factor in minimizing risk of hand-arm vibration syndrome (HAVS), which encompasses vibration white finger and other HAV-related injuries. Reducing the vibrations emitted by a machine by 50% decreases the vibration exposure by a full 50%, but cutting exposure time in half reduces vibration exposure by only 30%.

The new Di-Pro is optimized to provide maximum efficiency despite vibrations being held below the regulatory 2.5 m/sec² (ISO 8662-1). Its patent-pending design results from combining ingenious new vibration-reduction technology with the Classic Diprofil Machine’s legacy of high quality and performance.

Besides offering performance comparable to that of the Classic Diprofil Machine, the Di-Pro polishing/filing machine ensures that the reduction in vibration will not prolong production times. As a result, costs for labour are not higher, and the benefits of lower vibration are not lost in a trade-off resulting in longer exposure time.

Diprofil recommends using tools within a certain weight span in order to minimize HAV. This is based on the company’s experience with tools normally used with this type of machine. Further, the company says that using the Di-Pro with Diprofil’s own selected diamond files and lapping/polishing tools while following optimal operating procedures can reduce the risk of HAVS significantly.
