12 December 2006 Vero Gets New ’Brother’: Camtek Ltd.
Vero International Software Ltd. has announced that its parent company, VI Group plc, has acquired Camtek Ltd., the UK developer of PEPS CAD/CAM software. Based in Malvern, Worcestershire, Camtek has been an established name in the CAM market for more than 23 years, and boasts a user base in excess of 15,000 in more than 60 countries. Don Babbs, managing director of Vero International, says, “The addition of the Camtek people will allow us to enhance both the PEPS and [Vero] VISI-Series product ranges, as well as add world-class solutions for the wire EDM market, advanced production CAM, and specialist solutions for laser and tube cutting.” Camtek has focused on developing solutions for the production CAM market and specialized systems for wire erosion (electrical discharge machining; EDM) and tube and laser cutting. The wire EDM solution is perhaps the most widely used application on the market. It is certainly recommended by many of the world’s top manufacturers of wire erosion machines. Recent developments in the Camtek software line include a revamping of the core 2.5-axis and 3D CAM products through the inclusion of advanced mill/turn strategies and high-speed milling. “With two improved product ranges,” continues Don Babbs, “we have confidence in being able to expand in both the mould and die and production sectors.
