23 November 2009 ISTMA World Tooling Conference 2010 Issues Call for Papers
The Technical Committee of the ISTMA World Tooling & Machining Conference is seeking proposals for technical presentations to be delivered at the conference next June. In addition, the Canadian Tooling & Machining Association (CTMA), which will host the event, is looking for corporate sponsors. ISTMA World 2010 will take place June 20–24 at the Windsor Convention Centre & Caesar’s Casino in Windsor, Ontario, Canada. Sharing hosting duties will be the CTMA’s North American partner, the US-based National Tooling & Machining Association. This is the first ISTMA World Conference to be held in Canada. The event, which carries the title of “Global Opportunties for Special Tooling & Machining Companies,” will be the 13th international meeting for the International Special Tooling & Machining Association (ISTMA). Scheduled at the same time and place is the 11th International Pattern-Model Makers Congress. Each of these conferences is held every three years in order for the umbrella organizations’ member associations and companies to get together, exchange information, and explore methods for improving cross-border and global collaboration. An ISTMA World attendance of 300 to 500 delegates is expected. The World Tooling Conference technical committee is especially interested in paper submissions that focus on practical information, proven strategies and lessons learned by or with companies that produce tools, dies or moulds or that perform services in machining, rapid prototyping, design or reverse engineering. Also of interest are presentations that would discuss new trends or advance developments. The committee asks that presentations contain information or best-practice guidance that company representatives can take back home and put to use. Abstracts should be submitted electronically to lpayne@ctma.com by the January 1, 2010, deadline. They are not to exceed 500 words and must be accompanied by a biography with the same maximum length. Authors of accepted proposals will be notified by February 1. Digital-ready paper or PowerPoint presentations must then be submitted by March 1. The presentation language is English.
