29 September 2008 Portugal to Host Forum on Moulds and Dies
Following the success of previous biennial editions dating back to 1998, Marinha Grande, Portugal, will again be the setting for a Brokerage Events joint initiative presented under the auspices of Cefamol, the Portuguese national association for the moulding and mould making industry. The Brokerage Events 2008 Joint Summit, scheduled for October 28, will be integrated into Moulds Event 2008, whose week-long agenda includes other seminars, congresses, and international conferences related to the mould making industry. The Brokerage Events summit has a dual focus, which is reflected in the event’s title, “Moulds and Dies & Nano-Materials and µ-Technologies.” Keynote addresses on these two themes will be delivered in the afternoon to a plenary session of forum participants. The remainder of the afternoon will be devoted to focused sessions. Preceding the afternoon presentations will be bilateral meetings in the morning at which attendees of the Brokerage Events meeting can gather information about other participants and set up meetings with potential partners for cooperative R&D and technology transfer. The catalytic forum brings together industry stakeholders, companies, technology suppliers, technological centres, research institutes, and universities in an effort to foster European-scale partnerships for R&D, networking, technology transfer, and business development. It is intended mainly to support, within its official agenda, the realization of bilateral and multilateral meetings for the discussion of specific project proposals for R&D, for the development of innovative applications for emergent technologies, and for furthering innovation and opportunities for business collaboration. The Moulds and Dies 2008 element of the meeting was developed in coordination with the EU Framework Programme EuroTooling 21. The Brokerage Events Joint Summit has been organized by Centimfe, the Portuguese Technological Centre for the Mould Making, Special Tooling, and Plastics Industries, and by the CE-Micro network, which have received cooperation and assistance from the Portuguese Ministry for Science and Higher Education, the Innovation Agency of Portugal, the Eureka Initiative, the Innovation Relay Centres Network, and several industrial associations, research institutes, universities, and individual companies.
