7 November 2006 Moulds Event Next Week in Portugal
Portugal is a European leader in the mould making industry, and next week its activities in this sector will be in focus during its biannual showcase—the Moulds Event 2006. Promoted by Centimfe (the Technological Centre for the Mould Making, Special Tooling, and Plastics Industries) and Cefamol (the Portuguese Association for the Mould Industry), this internationally recognized event takes place November 13–17 in the national mould making centres Marinha Grande and Oliveira de Azeméis. There is still time for interested mould industry individuals to participate in this significant meeting, which consists of plenary sessions, a programme of lectures, workshops, and seminars, and an associated exhibition, not to mention convivial dinners. The organizers encourage companies interested in exploring opportunities to enhance their competitiveness to send a team of delegates to Portugal. The Monday opening session of Moulds Event 2006 is a videoconference that brings attendees in both cities together. An international conference fills the closing day, Friday. Intended to promote the image and potentialities of the mould making industry, the conference features discussions of new trends and opportunities and includes a market outlook. In between are a variety of sessions and workshops, including a two-day conference on product development and rapid tooling and a “joint summit” meeting on moulds and dies, nanomaterials, and microtechnologies inspired by the fact that the European Commission and the European national governments are defining support programmes for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in this future-oriented area to cover the years 2007 through 2013. First calls for projects will be open this December. The Marinha Grande sessions, which constitute much of the Moulds Event programme, will be held at the facilities of Centimfe.
