1 October 2007 Next Year’s BIEMH Previewed at EMO
Bilbao Exhibition Centre presented a preview of the forthcoming BIEMH 2008 fair at the EMO exhibition in Hannover, Germany, in September. The world’s leading machine tool fair made an appropriate backdrop for the press conference in which details pertaining to Spain’s leading show for the sector were presented. The next BIEMH is scheduled to take place on March 3–8, 2008. The press conference was given by José Miguel Corres, CEO of Bilbao Exhibition Centre, and Koldo Arandia, chairman of AFM, the Spanish association of machine tool manufacturers, whose institutions were the joint organizers of the event. The presentation was closed by Basque Government Minister for Industry, Trade, and Tourism Ana Agirre. Speaking to an international audience of trade specialists from business enterprises, associations, and specialist media, the BEC spokesman delivered a preview of the 25th BIEMH through a recitation of the main facts and figures as of the end of the initial registration period. Registrations are up 6% over the equivalent period for 2006, when the 24th edition took place. More than 1,000 companies have already confirmed their participation in the 2008 BIEMH fair. A breakdown of these firms reveals that the subsectors from which most exhibiting companies that have signed up so far come are cutting machine tools (20% of the total), forming machine tools (18%), tooling for machine tools (15%), and accessories (13%). In addition, AFM presented data at the presentation that confirm the current positive standing of the Spanish machine tool industry. The Bilbao Exhibition Centre attended the event in Hannover jointly with AFM, with which it is working closely, and with numerous Basque companies. For further information: BIEMH 2008
