27 October 2008 New General Manager at Tungaloy Europe
The Japanese tool manufacturer Tungaloy is seeing a strong increase in its foreign sales, especially in the Chinese and European markets. One motor driving this trend is Tsuyoshi Izumi, who has just begun his tenure as the general manager of Tungaloy Europe GmbH, whose head office is in Langenfeld, Germany. Izumi, born in 1962, joined Tungaloy in 1984. Among other responsibilities, he has been in charge of the Japanese dealer network and key accounts and served as export sales manager for Europe. Then, a few years ago, Izumi returned to Japan as general manager for the domestic Japanese market. Later, he was appointed global sales manager in Japan. In Germany and in Europe, the new GM is focusing on supporting Tungaloy’s well-established network of independent dealers and on significantly expanding direct sales. His major goal is to strengthen customer service so that products can be offered close to the areas of customer demand. In particular, high-performance tools will be emphasized in Germany and Europe. The high demands of the German market define the criteria for new product development. In recent years, Tungaloy invested heavily in production facilities for the manufacture of polycrystalline cubic boron nitride (PCBN) in order to achieve a major market objective. With the addition of inserts in BX480 and BX470 to Tungaloy’s product portfolio, for example, Izumi plans to increase the company’s market share for PCBN products by 15% annually.
