4 March 2010 IMTS 2010 on Track to Be Eighth-Largest IMTS Ever
Registration for IMTS 2010, the 28th edition of the International Manufacturing Technology Show, is open and available at the show website (www.imts.com). The Association of Manufacturing Technology (AMT), which owns and manages the event, says that this year’s show is on track to be the eighth-largest IMTS ever. IMTS, held every other year at Chicago’s McCormick Place, is one of the largest industrial trade shows in the world. It is the largest and longest-running manufacturing technology trade show in the United States. Visitor numbers approach 100,000, and these manufacturing industry professionals come from more than 100 countries. IMTS 2010 takes place September 13–18. John Krisko, the AMT’s director of exhibitions, is pleased that the 2010 show looks to be the eighth-largest IMTS since the exhibition’s inception in 1927. “We are on track to fill well over one million net square feet of exhibit space and host more than 1,000 exhibitors,” says Krisko. “It is encouraging that the show is holding steady in these uncertain times and that there appears to be confidence in the future and importance of global manufacturing. We’re moving ahead with our planning for a great event that will inspire the industry for a bright future.” The largest IMTS ever was 10 years ago. IMTS 2000 featured slightly more than 1.4 million net square feet of exhibit space. IMTS 1986 was the first show in the series to exceed 1 million net square feet of exhibit space. Manufacturing professionals attend IMTS to see more than 15,000 new machine tools, controls, computers, software, components, systems and processes that can improve their efficiency. “They come to the show to learn, to network and to find new resources and innovative manufacturing technology resources,” explains Krisko. Registering to attend IMTS 2010 by August 13 earns a half-price admission. The entry cost is reduced even further when groups of five or more people register at the same time.
