British CNC Machine Supplier
Reports Buoyant First Quarter

Machine tool sales are holding up well at the British CNC machine supplier Mills Manufacturing Technology Ltd. Fifty machines were ordered during the first three months of 2003, following a lean 2002 which nevertheless saw the company increase market share for the sixth successive year.

Managing director Mike Jenkins attributes this success to the strength of the Daewoo and Nakamura Tome brands that Mills sells, as well as the benefits of moving the company's base from Norwich to the West Midlands. As a result of the relocation, there has been a significantly higher level of ongoing showroom visits by potential customers and increased attendance at open-house exhibitions.

This year's orders have come from diverse industries including defense, railway subcontracting, medical, and automotive. Jenkins also said there are welcome indications that aerospace business is beginning to return.
