CIMdata Forecasts Delcam to Be
Fastest-Growing CAM Supplier in 2004

The latest NC Software and Related Services Market Assessment from the renowned US consulting and market research firm CIMdata shows that Delcam was the fastest-growing of the ten leading suppliers of CAM software during 2003. As a result, the company retained its position as the leading worldwide supplier of specialist machining software and associated services during the year. CIMdata also forecasts that Delcam will be the fastest-growing of all CAM suppliers in 2004.

Part of the growth is expected to come from Delcam's traditional toolmaking markets. "PowerMILL [from Delcam] has established a strong industry position for 3- and 5-axis milling of moulds and dies," says the report's author, Alan Christman. "The toolpath generation speed is impressive and a wide range of advanced machining strategies is available."

Further expansion will result from other sectors. "Delcam is giving increased attention to aerospace firms and other large international companies," Christman says. "In addition, unlike most vendors, Delcam has targeted specific vertical market segments, such as packaging, footwear, jewelry and ceramics. The vertical solutions leverage core technologies and result in incremental revenue without adversely affecting the base tool business."

Commenting on the report, Delcam managing director Hugh Humphreys said, "I am delighted that CIMdata has such faith in our ability to continue the recent growth in our sales. With our broader range of software and the increasing recognition that we are seeing from larger companies, I am confident that we will enjoy another successful year in 2004."
