The new Fiera Milano fairground will host BI-MU 2006, the 25th edition of the machine tools, robotics, and automation show, October 510, 2006. The Milan fair, promoted by the Italian trade association UCIMU-Sistemi per Produrre, thus will be afforded operating circumstances to match the prestige of the event and of the enterprises that exhibit at it.
BI-MU has been known as a leading world machine tool exhibition for the even-numbered years. The event features, in addition to the exhibition, specialized reviews of the most recent technological methods for welding, assembling, and moulding, a full conference programme, and initiatives that emphasize the professional opportunities offered by the sector.
UCIMU-Sistemi per Produrre reports that the 2004 edition drew almost 81,000 operators from five continents. There were 1,077 direct exhibitors and a total of 1,844 exhibitors, including a foreign representation of 782 enterprises from 30 countries. The space occupied by exhibition stands exceeded 70,000 m².
The 25th BI-MU will be able to take advantage of the extraordinary qualities of the new Fiera Milano fairgroundspecifically, its great total space availability, state-of-the art technical facilities, and accommodating “livability.” The fairground is well integrated with the Milan city centre and various means of transport.
The Fiera Milano exhibition centre has eight pavilions, two of them two-storied, which have practically no pillars or other structural encumbrances that could impair accessibility to or the visibility of stands. Each pavilion covers about 37,000 m² and has a reception area, bars and restaurants, conference rooms, and office areas. Exhibitors at BI-MU 2006 will use pavilions 9, 11, 13, 14, 15, 18, 22, and 24, with entrance from the eastern and western gates.
Power supply, water, telephone/data, and compressed-air services are distributed throughout the pavilions. Remote surveillance is ensured by 18 cameras in each pavilion controlled from a room in the service centre. Every stand has a 100-MB optical-fibre plug and a telephone line. Across the fairground, wireless services are available, with Wi-Fi access points separated from power services.
